The History/Classics double degree is designed for students with a particular taste for civilizations of the past, and who wish to develop their training in a multidisciplinary way
The History/Classics double degree is a top-notch program that enables motivated students with good work skills to acquire and master two disciplines.
In this double degree program, organized jointly by the ARSH (Arts and Humanities) and LLASIC (Language, Literature and Performing Arts, Information Communication) UFRs, the student's timetable is arranged so that he or she can take all the core courses of the 2 bachelor's degrees, and thus obtain 2 diplomas at the end of the 3 years.

Lessons learned

This double degree takes 3 years to complete. Students follow a set of courses in both fields:
  • In History: from the ancient Greek world to the history of the Middle East in the 20th century, via the France of Louis XIV, a Bachelor of History student embraces multiple centuries and civilizations in three years.
At university, the study of history is divided into four main periods (Antiquity, the Middle Ages, the Modern Era and the Present). Each period is treated from a political, economic, social, religious or cultural angle.
  • Classics: Classics combine French, Latin and ancient Greek, each studied as a language and as a literary vehicle.
This multi-disciplinary training provides sound knowledge of the foundations of our culture, as well as methods for text analysis, literary commentary and translation.

At the end of this dual curriculum, which develops thewriting skills and literary and historical culturestudents acquire sought-after skills in analysis and synthesis, precision of expression, critical thinking, ability to move between culturally different worlds and more specifically with ancient worlds, approached from both historical and literary perspectives.
