Cycles of interviews with teacher-researchers at the UFR ARSH library about their latest works - Year 2023-2024
First interview in April 2023 - Élodie ORIOL, Assistant Professor in Modern History
Élodie Oriol, lecturer in modern history at Paris 8, interviewed students about her book " Vivre de la musique à Rome au XVIIIe siècle" (Living from music in 18th-century Rome).
Devoted to the study of musical professions in eighteenth-century Rome, the book takes a social history perspective. It offers the reader a panorama of the places and institutions associated with the practice of music, from chapels to theaters, aristocratic palaces and public squares.
Second interview in November 2023 - Olivia ADANKPO-LABADIE, Associate Professor in Medieval History
"Master class" through his latest book Moines, saints et hérétiques en Éthiopie médiévale. École française de Rome, 2023.
This book seeks to understand both the paradoxical expansion of the first Eustathian communities and the meanings of heterodoxy in medieval Ethiopian society.
Third interview in December 2023 - Jérôme ROSSI, Assistant Professor in Musicology
His research focuses on post-romantic music and the relationship between music and cinema. You'll discover collaborations between composers and directors in his latest collective work: Compositeurs et réalisateurs en duo - Dix-sept études musico-filmiques. Edited by Cécile Carayol and Jérôme Rossi.
Fourth interview in March 2024 - Gianpaolo URSO, researcher at the University of Salerno
Gianpaolo Urso presented his book Catilina le faux populiste in an interview with history students.
The image of a "subversive" Catilina, as supported by Cicero, only became canonical after Sallustus. At first, another image was opposed to it: a minority, no doubt, but well attested, and vigorously taken up by Marc Antony in his attacks on Cicero in the autumn of 44.
Fifth interview in May 2024 - Philippe TAREL, history teacher in preparatory classes at Champollion High School in Grenoble and lecturer in Roman history at the ARSH faculty.
Philippe Tarel presented his latest book The Birth of Christianity during an interview with history students.
This book focuses primarily on demonstrating the importance of Christians' integration into the society of their time, in which religious divisions were rarely essentialized. This explains Christianity's deep roots within an empire founded on plurality.
