Propaedeutic year: a preparatory year for a successful 4-year bachelor's degree
Following the Parcours Sup committee's examination of students' final year applications, some students are admitted to a "propédeutique" year, i.e. a preparatory year that gives them the essential tools to successfully complete their bachelor's degree in 4 years (instead of 3 years for those entering L1 directly).
The objectives of propaedeutics
Reinforce the basics of written and spoken French, using innovative and demanding methods for adults
Confirm your chosen discipline, with the possibility of changing during the year, or even changing direction altogether
Benefit from support in small groups, both in disciplinary aspects and in defining your personal project.
How does the preparatory year work?
Each student is welcomed by a member of the teaching team during the welcome week (1st week of September). This interview is an opportunity to explain to students why they have been admitted to the propaedeutic program.
At the end of the first semester, in January, A jury will meet to validate the semester, and may decide to allow those whose results allow it to go directly to L1.
The year is divided into four main modules present in both semesters, at a rate of approximately 20h/25h of lessons per week:
Consolidation of knowledge and mastery of the tools required for the chosen discipline (history, musicology or philosophy).
Written and oral expression courses.
One-quarter of L1 courses validated in advance.
Reflection and construction of a study and/or professional project
Assessments are primarily based on continuous assessment.
In addition to these courses, tutoring is provided by Master's students.
Students who pass the propaedeutic year are automatically admitted to 1re year of the chosen discipline (history, musicology or philosophy).
