This year, teachers of ancient history offered three film screenings with commentary: "Hannibal", "Romulus" and "Life of Brian".
November 2023: screening of the film "Hannibal, le cauchemar de Rome" directed by Edward Bazalgette
As its name suggests, the film depicts Hannibal Barca, the famous Carthaginian. Heavily inspired by Titus Livius (books XXI to XXV), the film takes place in 218 BC, when Sagonte, a Spanish city under Roman protectorate, is besieged by Hannibal Barca's Carthaginian troops. This set in motion a game of alliances, with Sagonte being outside the Carthaginian zone of influence according to Rome because it was allied to it, while the Carthaginians asserted their rights over this city located in the zone resulting from the division of the Treaty of the Iber.

The series plunges into the heart of the 8th century B.C. to follow the mythical adventures of Romulus, from his birth to the founding of the city of Rome, in the heart of Latium and the league of thirty Latin cities.
March 2024: screening of the British comedy film"Monty Python: Life of Brian", directed by Terry Jones in 1979.
In the year 0, in the land of Galilee, Mandy and her baby Brian are visited by the Three Wise Men on a beautiful December evening. Realizing they'd made a mistake, the Three Wise Men hurriedly packed up their gifts and headed for the stable next door. Alas, Brian has drawn the wrong number...
The film, which caused controversy at the time of its release due to its content, deemed blasphemous by certain religious groups, is today considered a classic of the genre and hailed for its humor and social satire.
